Plate Girl

There are a stack of plates on my dinning table. I love looking at them because (a) I made them and (b) they are not perfect.

Last night, I was volunteering at my CSA. The first question after introducing each other's name between the volunteers is " what do you do for living?". "ceramic artist" was my response. That was the first time I said it after being an attorney and distressed property officer. But, now, I rethink the question again, I should have said " housewife" because I don't make a living by being a ceramic artist. hummm....... I have not sold a plate, Yet.

I have been making plates since the beginning of this year. The instructor once told me that plate is difficult to make if you have never done it before (doesn't that apply for everything in life?...). My first plate was made horribly because it is so irregular, but it has been my favorite plate ever. (Hummm.... don't know what it means. attach to the first project??) I use it almost every day!! I find making plate is the meditation in my chaotic life. What is yours?
