Sunshine
Just came back from Miami, had a sunburn, and love it. Last time I was in Miami was almost 20 years ago. I thought Miami was such a very pretentious place and I would rather travel somewhere else than Miami. But I was there for 4 days and loved it. No, I should not say all Miami. I was in South Beach. Love it.
We had a very tight schedule because of the baby (nap time and feeding time). For all of you who do not have a baby, this basically means that at certain time of the day, the baby goes to sleep or eat and he needs to be in a quiet place (i.e. back to the hotel). That is not the bad part. Then, there is bed time, for our baby, it is 6:30 p.m. So you see, our tight schedule means that we only have certain hours we can utilize which we wanted to go to the beach, we wanted to walk around, and we want to have good food.
We did all that!!! Yes, you can do it too! (ok, we kind of cheat, the last night we took the baby out for dinner past his bed time, he was sleeping thru the whole dinner. Good Baby!)
We had cuban food 2 days in a row, one near our hotel and another at Versailles Cafe in Little Havana. That one was a trouble to get to. We did not rent a car so we took public transportation. It was kind of nuts because life outside of South Beach was kind of bizarre. Downtown Miami where we needed to transfer the bus to Little Havana from SOBE was dead. It was so dead except few homeless people (there are tons of homeless people in SOBE too). We left our hotel at 10:30 a.m., got to Versailles Cafe at 1:00 p.m. and back to SOBE at 4:30 p.m. The food was great, finger licking good. I had ox tail stew and Leo had lamb Shank and they are so delicious. But I would rent a car to get there next time.
We also had Joe's Stone Crab in SOBE. Again, I had those stone crabs last time I was in town. I really missed it. Those fat legs were so sweet. So we went to the restaurant twice!!
It was such a pleasant trip. The salt water was 80 degrees. The baby saw the ocean for the first time in his life. I think he was a little scared. He was holding on my body like there is no tomorrow. Go SOBE!!
