Tamasita's is a highly recommended New Mexican restaurant in Santa Fe by most of the tour books. When we arrived at the place around 7 p.m., the parking lot was so full and people were waiting outside to get into this place. Of course, we had to try it (that is the only way for us to determine whether the place is even worth of trying!!).
I had the Tamales Plate which comes with 2 pork tamales and 1 enchilada smothered with cheese and red chili sauce, refried bean and rice are on the side. I asked for an additional red chili which was not seasoned but warm. Oh my god, the red chili sauce was so good. I immediately told Leo that I have to look for the chili powder and bring it home.
The next few days, it was part of my mission to look for chili pepper, dry or fresh!! The hanging chili are best find at roadside trucks. Then you can find roasted chili trucks as well. The smell of the roasted chili is so amazing. Yes, I bought a 7 lb. of roasted chili home (and 2 strings of fresh chili- 8 lb.) I had it in my carryon bag and a passenger was asking if anyone smells chili. Haha. It smells so good.
I used to think that the only people eat really hot food are Asians. New Mexico chili really blows my mind away.
