Tres moved in less than 48 hours ago from a farm in the State of Washington. We were both exhausted yesterday because I walked him almost 6 hours so that he can go to the bathroom. Of course, he had to go on the grass in the park.
The moment he got into the apartment the first time, he found a carpet in the bathroom (the only one we did not roll up) and peed on it. That was 1:30 A.M. I was already very tired from 6 hrs of flight from Seattle but we still needed to walked him so that he go potty.
In the middle of the night, I waked up because Tres was crying. Oh my god. It was 3:30 A.M. (I never waked up in the middle of the night for anything). Then at 6:30 A.M. I waked up finally and quickly dressed so that Tres can go potty. Then again after I fed him the food. The problem is that there is no quite place in my neighborhood so he was so distracted for 1 hour and would not go potty. (according to the book, a dog supposes to go after 15-20 minutes after the meal, lead the dog to a quite place and ignore him so that he can go). Everything according to the book was out of the window for Tres. For god sake, there is no quite place at all. The garbage truck, ambulances, construction trucks, people walking, people walking with their dogs , people on bicycle, kids. Forget about it. So I started walking him all over the places (no, he was pulling me all over the place). Then he was exhausted from walking. Me too.
That was Day 1. Today is Day 2, but I will write later because I need to take a nap so I can take him out again later.
By the way. I met everyone in my neighborhood ( I think! ) because of Tres.

Tres is so cute!
About training, maybe 70% of that doesn't help at all......In the first few nights, the puppy would cry a lot since he is not familiar with his new home......You could try to hold him and make him feel better....
We usually walk Ryu twice a day (in the early morning and around dinner time), not necessarily after his meal.
If he pee on the carpet, you can try to "pull" him to the spot, and raise your voice (kind of punishment) and let him know he did the wrong thing (doesn't work for Ryu too :P, but you can try). If you are just yell at him, he will never know why you are so angry!
A lot of hard work but it is "sweet burden".
I met Tres less than a day after he arrived. He is ADORABLE! He is very shy, scared, curious and strong. Underneath the "puppy stage" you can almost sense his true personality and boy does he have a biggie - no surprise given who is new adoptive mother is (lol). He attracts all kinds of people to him - old, young, dog owners, non-dog owners etc. Usually puppies attract people but Tres is so darn cute that even the person who normally wouldn't stop to see a puppy stops for Tres. You'll be meeting more people with that cutie pie by your side - remember dogs sense energies so you have to be assertive and in control of your senses before you can attempt to be assertive and train Tres. That's the key - and nothing is to be done in anger and frustration...keep learning it's such a fun process. ENJOY HIM!
Love ya and c u soon!
