Hush Browns

Recently, I am craving certain kind of foods that I normally won't eat.  Like hush browns 2 days in the row and not just any hush browns but the one from McDonald's.  It is so greasy but taste so good.  When I got into the nearby McDonald's, the line was long but the service was pretty efficient.  I thought that was strange.  Couple years ago, when I went to McDonald's, the service was so bad and people behind the counter were those high school kids who did not give a hoot about the job.  Then I always compare the one in Taiwan, the service is always lightening fast.  But today, I was actually shock.  The servers behind the counter are pretty much spanish speaking people (native from Latin America, they look like), the manager speaks Spanish.  That is what I like, people do what they suppose to do at that position.

Then on the way back to the apartment, I thought about how much I love McDonald's when I was a kid in Taiwan.  The franchise came to Taiwan when I was at the fourth grade.  We would pay the visit to the  joint at least once a week.  Dad loved McDonald's because it reminded him the old time in the 70s in the U.S..  I just loved the french fried.  Then in high school, I would have at least a pack of large fries every other day.  One day, McDonald's introduced fried chicken.  I absolutely loved it.  I had to have it.  It was so dried (translation into super crispy).  I think I was the only one loved it back then because it was off the market after couple months.  Too bad.

I guess sometimes you just want to eat something that reminds you of the childhood.  That was sweet!
